You will now move to implementation and your challenge will be to:
- integrate technology into learning to ensure the development of 21st century skills
- keep the whole community focussed on learning and the classroom.
- keep close to the classroom as the leading learner and continually acknowledge and support the professional learning needs and efforts of teachers.
Your principal colleagues have the following tips
before moving on. Check that you have:
- clear, specific goals and targets that focus on those key 21st century skills that will have the greatest impact for your students perhaps focussing initially on a year or stage. Many plans fail because they have broad targets or nebulous targets. The more specific and strategic the target the better the chance of success.
- identified teacher leaders with the capacity (the pedagogy and the interpersonals) in key roles in partnership to help with the essential professional learning for teachers, the principal and other school leaders
- professional learning to support the plan is the absolute essential component!
- ensured adequate resourcing: It is important to put resources for time and professional learning into the plan if you are to have a positive impact on student achievement.
- focussed on the positive things that are happening in classrooms and have shared and celebrated these. Remember that teachers are motivated by seeing their students improve.
